TP8 – Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Solid State Chemistry and Catalysis

The group of Malte Behrens is experienced in the materials chemistry of inorganic solid catalysts with a focus on synthesis, structural changes under working conditions and structure-performance relationships. The group holds expertise in the application of co-precipitation methods for the synthesis of catalysts and their precursors. Preliminary work also includes the development of highly active OER catalysts based on mixed transition metal hydroxycarbonates. Subsequent reduction of the precursors leads to bi-metallic nanomaterials.

The main goal of TP8 is to synthesise novel catalysts based on abundant 3d transition metals that form a robust basis for the establishment of composition-activity correlations in aqueous glycerol and ammonia oxidation. Catalysts with mixed cationic lattice such as multinary hydroxycarbonates and high-entropy spinels will be developed, screened and provided to the consortium.
